THE BEAT GOES ON:
Fords 300 CID in-line six cylinder engine is getting
new life for the oil patch at the hand of Canadas
Industrial Engines, Ltd. The Edmonton, Alberta firm remanufactures
the popular power plant with all new parts, and offers a
2,000 hour warranty. Canadians keep the 300-cubic inch Ford
spinning
More than 40 years after Ford introduced its
Big Six as a 240 CID standard car and pickup
truck engine, and several years after its 300-cubic inch
descendent fell by the automotive wayside, Industrial Engines,
Ltd., of Canada is breathing new life into the popular power
plantwith the gas and oil field industry particularly
in mind.
IEL bought up much of Fords final production
of the seven-main-bearing 300s and owns a huge number
of core blocks and heads.
Since IEL replaces all the moving parts in
their remanufactured 300s, that should keep the supply going
for years.
The remanufactured power plant includes stellite
valves and seats to accommodate natural gas fuel; and this
offers a longer running time then the originally manufactured
engines.
IELs - 300s come with a 2,000
hour warranty and can be ordered with any configuration
the customer requires. Currently, IEL is building about
300 of the power plants a year.
IEL also is remanufacturing another Dearborn
workhorse, the 460 CID Ford V-8 engine. For more information,
